Media Services
Whistler Media House at MY Millennium Place will provide an operational and resource hub for both unaccredited and accredited international media including broadcasters and photographers as well as radio, print and online media.
A full service broadcasting facility, the Whistler Media House offers secure and fully-wired networking and operating space with access to broadcast transmission, editing and tech support - as well as bookable stand-up locations throughout Whistler Village.
Working areas for media range from open-plan shared space with several work stations, available on a walk-in basis, to bookable work stations with access to premium broadband service.
The following general services are provided to media free of charge (unless otherwise noted):
Connectivity
- Broadband WiFi access throughout WMH
- Wired broadband access in all work areas
- Availability of hard-wired local telephone (shared, not dedicated)
Operating space
- Shared space with work stations including tables, chairs and access to 110v AC power
- WMH press theatre for regular media briefings/ press conferences. The press theatre includes:
- 200 seats with designated areas for ad hoc work stations
- Designated areas for videographers and photographers
- Stage area and Q&A locations are professionally lit and balanced
- Screens showing feeds from every Olympic venue and/ or broadcaster in the WMH press theatre; wireless audio listening systems with personal receivers will allow media to focus on any feed at any time
- Interview rooms (available by reservation)
Technical Support
- Basic engineering support
- Basic computer / IT support
- Referral network for freelance personnel and equipment rentals
General
- 24/7 help desk
- Internet Lounge
- Live pool camera feeds including media briefings, press conferences, beauty cams and daily highlights
- High Definition B-roll and image library
- Basic printing and copying services
- Café (nominal charge for food and beverage)
Bookable services include:
- Office space (limited)
- Work stations with access to premium broadband service
- Master Control Room (broadcast, edit and transmission services)
- Audio/ radio and webcast studio
- Premium broadband (high-speed lines with high bandwidth for photo, video and other large file transmissions)
