What is the Whistler Media House?

Whistler Media House (WMH) is a central resource facility for unaccredited media visiting Whistler during the 2010 Winter Games. Media that have been accredited by VANOC - and are provided access to Whistler Media Centre (WMC) located in the Whistler Conference Centre - will also have limited access to WMH (depending on available capacity).

Whistler Media House is a full service broadcasting facility, offering secure and fully-wired networking and operating space. WMH will provide access to athletes, dignitaries and government leaders, as well as contacts to Whistler-related stories happening outside official Winter Games venues. In addition to providing support services tailored specifically to meet media's needs, WMH will deliver Whistler-specific content ranging from story ideas to image and b-roll access. Programming will also be offered, showcasing Whistler through special events, displays and celebrations.

Located only steps away from Whistler Medals Plaza in the heart of the resort, Whistler Media House will be open to serve media from February 1 - March 1, 2010.

As the Host Mountain Resort for the 2010 Winter Games, Whistler provides the quintessential winter backdrop sought after by international broadcasters and photographers as well as radio and print media. With 33.5 feet (10.22 metres) of average annual snowfall, Whistler's well-established alpine culture is anchored by Whistler Blackcomb, one of the world's top-rated ski and snowboard resorts.

More than half of the Olympic medal competitions - and 90 percent of the Paralympic medal competitions - will be held in Whistler. As such, there is extremely high interest among media outlets around the world to provide Whistler-based coverage.
